The FlexmiR™ microRNA product line combines Exiqon’s LNA™ technology with the Luminex xMAP® multiplex technology to create a bead-based profiling method. In a straightforward procedure, this system allows the researcher to (i) biotinylate the 3’ ends of total RNA, (ii) hybridize the labeled RNA to Tm-normalized LNA capture probes that have been coupled to fluorescently dyed xMAP® beads, (iii) stain the captured biotinylated miRNAs with streptavidin-phycoerythrin (SAPE), and (iv) analyze the samples on a Luminex analyzer capable of both identifying the fluorescent bead and measuring the SAPE intensity.

The FlexmiR™ system comprises the following products:

FlexmiR™ MicroRNA Human Panel
The FlexmiR MicroRNA Human Panel measures the expression of human miRNAs listed in the miRBase sequence database (version 8.0). The panel is used in conjunction with the FlexmiR MicroRNA Labeling Kit and contains sufficient reagents for profiling of 20 samples. The protocol time from total RNA sample to miRNA expression profile is less than four hours.

FlexmiR™ MicroRNA Labeling Kit
The FlexmiR MicroRNA Labeling Kit biotin-labels total RNA samples for use with the FlexmiR microRNA panels. Labeling is achieved through and easy 90-minute protocol.

FlexmiR™ MicroRNA Mouse/Rat Extension Panel
In combination with the FlexmiR MicroRNA Human Panel, the FlexmiR MicroRNA Mouse/Rat Extension Panel measures the expression of the miRBase sequence database (version 8.0) mouse/rat miRNA sequences. The panel is used in conjunction with the FlexmiR MicroRNA Labeling Kit and contains sufficient reagents for profiling of 20 samples. The protocol time from total RNA sample to miRNA expression profile is less than 4 hours.

FlexmiR™ MicroRNA Control Set
The FlexmiR MicroRNA Control Set contains two mixtures of five synthetic RNA oligonucleotides with no biological equivalent. One mixture is pre-biotinylated and the other is not biotinylated. These synthetic spike-in controls provide a tool for data normalization, assessment of FlexmiR microRNA assay integrity and assay troubleshooting.
